PLOT: Although they've only been dating for 5 weeks, Dustin (JASON BIGGS) wants to take his romantic relationship with coworker Alexis (KATE HUDSON) to the next level. Having never really dated many guys -- a point brought up by her roommate, Ami (LIZZY CAPLAN) -- Alexis decides they should just be friends. Devastated, Dustin turns to the only person he believes can fix this problem -- his roommate Tank (DANE COOK). While he works days as a customer service phone rep, Tank -- a chip off the old block, considering his dad, Professor Turner (ALEC BALDWIN), is also quite the player -- spends the rest of his time as a hired gun for various men who want to get back with their ex-girlfriends. And he does that by being the date from Hell, such an obnoxious boor that the women will go running back into their boyfriends' arms after realizing they made a horrible mistake. Tank reluctantly agrees to do this for Dustin, but is shocked when a drunken Alexis not only doesn't mind his treatment of her, but also wants to have casual sex with him. He declines the offer, but then finds himself smitten and then falling for her. From that point on, and as Dustin hopes his friend's ploy is working, Tank must figure out how to proceed. WILL KIDS WANT TO SEE IT? If they're fans of anyone in the cast or raunchy, R-rated films, they might. WHY THE MPAA RATED IT: R For strong language and sexual content throughout, including graphic dialogue and some nudity. CAST AS ROLE MODELS: Considering what occurs in the film (casual sex, strong profanity, drinking, smoking, bad attitudes, etc.), it's doubtful many if any parents would consider any of the characters in the film as good role models. OUR WORD TO PARENTS: The following is a quick summary of the content found in this romantic comedy that's been rated R. Profanity consists of at least 50 "f" words, while various other expletives and colorful phrases are also uttered. All sorts of sexually related dialogue, song lyrics and other material are present. That includes the sight of sex toys and porn, bare-breasted strippers in just tiny thongs doing their thing, a couple fooling around various times (partly undressed), with sex occurring on and off camera, and a man's bare butt is seen as he propositions a woman for oral sex. A character punches another and there's some slapping, characters smoke and drink (some to the point of intoxication), while brief pot smoking also occurs and there are some brief drug references. All sorts of bad attitudes are present, as is behavior that might be enticing for some kids to imitate. Crude and scatological humor also occurs. ALCOHOL OR DRUG USE In one of his purposefully obnoxious dates, Tank tells a caller he was drunk when he had sex with her sister. While on his date, he orders a lot of drinks, but they're only for him and not his date. One of Tank's clients drinks beer in a bar where others drink. Tank tells a young woman she's so white and thin that he could lay her out on a bar and snort her. Dustin and Alexis have wine in a restaurant where one camera shot shows various bottles of wine. Tank has beer. Dustin has a drink. Alexis and Ami drink, with the former then being intoxicated when she goes out on her date with Tank. Then end up at a strip club where both order a lot of drinks. Dustin has beer. Dustin has a beer in another scene. Professor Turner and Tank have beer in a bar where others drink. Tank is purposefully late for a date with a woman who says she thought they were going to get drinks before dinner. He then shows that he has a bottle (implying he's been drinking from that) and we then see that again on the table when they're at a pizza place. Realizing he's not right for Alexis and Dustin is, Tank purposefully sabotages her sister's wedding to make himself look quite bad. That includes doing a lot of drinking, and then walking out onto the dance floor with a beer in each hand and then vomiting onto the floor. He later makes a joke about his sneezing being due to cocaine. Later, we see him sharing a joint with someone. Miscellaneous people have champagne at a wedding. Dustin walks up carrying two beers and offers one to Tank who refuses. We also see Professor Turner with a glass of wine. Alexis has wine. Tank and his date have wine in a restaurant where others drink, and Alexis throws a glass of wine in his face. Professor Turner and Dustin have beer as do others. BLOOD/GORE We see a woman vomiting into a toilet. We see Tank urinating in public. Tank jogs alongside Alexis but then purposefully falls, slightly bloodying his knee. Alexis states she has to pee. Dustin tells Tank he wants the latter to go further in grossing out Alexis, such as defecating in public. A person says that something is crazy, "Like sh*t in the bed and roll around in it crazy." Trading insults, Alexis comments about Tank's penis being so small that he "pisses" on his testicles. Tank makes an analogy about a person and uses the word "sh*t" in verbal defecation mode. We see the motion of Tank urinating in a cup in his car, but don't see or hear the actual act. A miscellaneous guy makes a butt wiping gesture in regards to how Tank is treating Alexis too nicely at a dance. In response, Tank calls that guy a "husky bitch." Realizing he's not right for Alexis and Dustin is, Tank purposefully sabotages her sister's wedding to make himself look quite bad. That includes doing a lot of drinking, and then walking out onto the dance floor with a beer in each hand and then vomiting onto the floor. He then goes through the food line, grabbing food with his bare hand, saying he washed it after vomiting, and then proceeds to sneeze into the food and onto the people in line. DISRESPECTFUL/BAD ATTITUDE Everything here is played for intended comedy. Various men pay Tank to take their ex-girlfriends out on horrible dates to drive those women back into their arms by making them seem like good catches in comparison (and Tank uses everything in his arsenal to behave like a jerk toward them). While he doesn't pay him, Dustin also employs Tank for the same purposes. However, Tank ends up falling for and bedding Alexis. About getting teary about watching "Ghost," Tank tells himself, "I'm a fag." Some viewers might not like Tank's callous reply to Alexis mentioning a pet dying in her hands: "I'm sure that's not the only thing that's gone limp in your hands." Tank and his coworker don't take their phone customer support jobs seriously, blowing off irate callers and making sure no one gets a refund. Dustin's date is seen breast-feeding her child, and when he's asked if he'd like something to drink, he replies that he'll have what the kid is having (thus infuriating the mother). Both Tank and his dad sexually objectify women. Some viewers might not like Professor Turner making a sexual remark about a woman and that she was bucking like an epileptic at a strobe convention (or something close to that). About Tank being sensitive about Alexis, Professor Turner says he's acting like Liberace's stylist's boyfriend, and then feigns a gay sounding voice. Tank purposefully takes a young religious woman to a Jesus-themed pizza parlor called Cheesus Crust where pizza is made in the shape of a cross. She's offended by this and tells everyone that they're sinners. That prompts the waitress to reply that her people should have thought about that 19 years ago when they stopped her mom from going into the clinic. Some viewers might not like when Tank jokes to a young religious woman that he's the antichrist (for the way he's been behaving). A miscellaneous guy makes a butt wiping gesture in regards to how Tank is treating Alexis too nicely at a dance. In response, Tank calls that guy a "husky bitch." Alexis' future brother-in-law reveals to Tank that he's marrying Alexis' sister for the family money (or at least that's the lucrative part of the pending nuptials). Realizing he's not right for Alexis and Dustin is, Tank purposefully sabotages her sister's wedding to make himself look quite bad. That includes telling a joke to a priest and a rabbi about a priest seeing a bent-over boy and stating, "I'd really like to screw that," with the rabbi asking, "Out of what?" He then does a variety of other things, including asking the bride's mom to perform oral sex on him after dropping his pants. When Dustin and Tank make up, Professor Turner makes various mocking homosexual remarks about them and that. FRIGHTENING SCENES None. GUNS/WEAPONS None. We then see a series of things he did during their date. That includes him talking about her giving him a "blow job" and that he'd turn it from being a chore into a tutoring experience, calling it his "head start program." He grabs her clothed butt at another moment, and has a fake cell phone conversation with another woman, talking about getting her sister pregnant. He then eats some food, licking his tongue into as if performing oral sex on a woman, and then plays a song in his car with sexually related lyrics (that repeat "Pop that p*ssy"). Tank talks to a client about how to make a woman "come" and stares at another woman's clothed butt in a short and tight skirt. There's a comment about "p*ssy police." We see miscellaneous cleavage. Tank makes out with a young woman and grabs her clothed butt. We next see them in bed, post sex, with him shirtless, while we see her bare back.
