QUICK TAKE:
Documentary: A look at four stand-up comedians as they travel on a 30-day, cross-country tour plying their trade.
PLOT:
Fashioned after Buffalo Bill Cody's Wild West Show of old, actor Vince Vaughn has assembled a quartet of stand-up comedians -- Ahmed Ahmed, John Caparulo, Bret Ernst and Sebastian Maniscalco -- and taken them on the road for a 30-day, cross-country tour where they'll ply their trade for audiences in various venues.

With fellow actors Justin Long and Keir O'Donnell in tow for various skits, and former child actor Peter Billingsley serving as one of the film's executive producers, the group of men make their way on a cramped bus from one city to the next, plying and discussing their trade.

WILL KIDS WANT TO SEE IT?
If they're into stand-up comedy and/or are fans of anyone in the cast, they might be interested.
WHY THE MPAA RATED IT: R
For pervasive language and some sex-related humor.
CAST AS ROLE MODELS:
All of the performers appear as themselves, actors and/or standup comedians who go on a 30-day, cross-country tour of telling jokes and observing that process. Most of them use strong profanity, and tell jokes that some viewers may or may not find offensive.

OUR WORD TO PARENTS:
The following is a brief summary of the content found in this R-rated documentary. Profanity consists of at least 137 "f" words, while other expletives and colorful phrases are uttered. Sexually related dialogue and comedy-based material are present and cover a variety of topics, while a fan has a male comedian autograph the top of her breast.

Some of the material may rub some viewers the wrong way, while some bad attitudes are present, as are various thematic elements (including talk of Hurricane Katrina victims, having a gay brother die of AIDS, being an Arab comedian in a post-9/11 world, etc.).

There's some crude humor, while some people drink (and there are comedy bits about that behavior) and a few smoke. Some kids may repeat jokes they hear or make up similar ones of their own, while some tense family material is also present.

If you're still concerned about the film and its appropriateness for yourself or anyone else in your home who may be interested in seeing it, we suggest that you take a closer look at our detailed listings for more specific information regarding the film's content.

For those prone to visually induced motion sickness, a great deal of handheld camerawork appears in the film.

ALCOHOL OR DRUG USE
  • Vince and John do a skit with Justin serving as their waiter. They order beer, he brings them some, and they drink a sip.
  • Various shots in various venues show audience members drinking what looks like beer and/or what may be alcoholic drinks.
  • Various comedians tell jokes about drinking. That includes bits about men drinking apple martinis and the comedian asking a heckler who's that drunk at nine. There's also one about the differences in drinking between groups of men and women, and then about vomiting, with another about the same.
  • There's talk of and then a clip from an old After School Special where young Vince and young Peter Billingsley perform in a bit about the latter's character using steroids.
  • Vince carries a drink.
  • One comedian says he drinks wine rather than beer.
  • Some of the comedians and others drink.
  • One of the comedians jokes that a person has to be on drugs (singling out ecstasy) to like techno music.
  • An old country song has the lines, "We don't smoke marijuana in Muskogee" and "We don't take LSD."
  • One comedian talks about the differences in men and women with drinking, asking women what's the worst thing they'll do, "Blow a stranger?"
  • A comedian holds a beer while doing a comedy bit.
  • A song has the lyric, "I had a little drink about an hour ago, and it went straight to my head."
  • Some young women want John to come drinking with them, but he's already committed to doing something with his family.
  • Vince, the comedians and others have champagne at the end of their tour.
  • BLOOD/GORE
  • One of the comedians complains to Vince about the broken toilet and lack of one close by, saying something about going seven times, while Vince says he isn't as concerned as he doesn't have to "sh*t" as bad as the other guy.
  • One comedian does a bit about drinking and vomiting, and that occurs again, with the comedian acting out the latter.
  • One comedian talks about his father's idea of a joke being about a monkey that eats and then "sh*ts out" a peanut.
  • John greets his dog by saying, "Your breath smells like poop."
  • DISRESPECTFUL/BAD ATTITUDE
  • Ahmed does a comedy bit about Arabs being the "new black" and the people white girls would date because they're "dangerous" and might irritate their parents. He tells other Arab-based ethnic jokes (and he's Egyptian), while Italian Sebastian refers to himself as a "Guido" (some viewers might not like the ethnic humor).
  • Ahmed says he was arrested in Vegas in the last election year as a result of racial profiling.
  • One comedian does a bit about working in a Subway restaurant being bad since the customers can see everything you do, and thus you can't spit in their food or have your "balls" in the same. He talks more about the latter, imitating a worker asking, "You wanted mayo, right? Cuz you got it" (an ejaculation joke).
  • Some viewers might be offended by a boy who recognizes Keir from his role as a gay character in the movie "Wedding Crashers" and then bursts out laughing after saying, "You're the gay dude."
  • Bret does various comedy bits about his older gay brother, and that he came out that way (mimicking a stereotypical, effeminate voice and mannerisms). That includes him being born, complaining about the disgusting placenta, and vowing never to go back in there (meaning the vagina). Some viewers might not like that humor.
  • FRIGHTENING SCENES
  • None.
  • GUNS/WEAPONS
  • We see a clip from "A Christmas Story" where the character played by young Peter Billingsley shoots a BB gun.

"This f*cking sucks," "F*cking right on," "F*ck yeah," "F*ck me," "A f*cking douche," "We don't give a f*ck," "F*ck 'em," "F*cking hot," "That would be f*cking rich," "Laugh it up, f*ckers," "I get f*cking scared," "You f*cking jackass," "You little f*cking bitch," "F*cking asshole," "M*therf*cker," "F*cking sucks," "You're f*cked up," "F*ck you," "That was f*cking awesome," "F*ck her," "She was a f*cking bitch," "Shut the f*ck up," "I don't know sh*t," "Don't be sh*tty to me," "Don't give a sh*t," "Holy sh*t," "That's my sh*t," "Was the sh*t," "Oh sh*t," "Meanest sh*t," "Bullsh*t," "Sh*t-box," "I still don't know sh*t," "I'll kick the sh*t out of you," "He was a d*ck," "Yeah, I'm sucking c*ck now," "Dawg," "Cheesy Guido music," "Piss off," "Arabs, we're the new black," "Can't you bust some balls?" "Freakin,'" "Dude," "We could give a rat's ass," "What the hell were you thinking?" • An old country song has the lines, "We don't smoke marijuana in Muskogee" and "We don't take our trips on LSD" (a positive message, but one that mentions drugs for those concerned about that).
  • A song has the lyric, "I had a little drink about an hour ago, and it went straight to my head."
  • PROFANITY
  • At least 137 "f" words (2 used with "mother," 4 used sexually as is the term "do"), 53 "s" words, 5 slang terms using male genitals ("d*ck" and "c*ck"), 2 using female ones ("p*ssy"), 1 for breasts ("boobs"), 4 asses (1 used with "hole"), 4 hells, 1 damn, 7 uses of "Oh my God," 4 of "Oh God" and 1 use each of "For Christ's sakes," "Honest to God," "Jesus," "Jesus Christ," "Oh my Lord" and "Swear to God."
  • SEX/NUDITY
  • We see miscellaneous cleavage in the crowd.
  • One comedian talks about stripper cards in Vegas, with pictures of "naked chicks" on them, along with an ad for coming to one's room and stripping for $49. The comedian then jokes, "Or I could just beat off for free" (using the card with the naked woman on it).

  • We see part of Vince's bare chest as he lies in bed and pulls his shirt up.
  • We see miscellaneous cleavage.
  • One comedian jokes about his shower routine that's followed by applying baby powder. He then simulates throwing a handful on his crotch (he's fully clothed), talking about preparing that area if you have a hot date. He adds that you want them coming back (presumably for oral sex), and they won't if it smells like seaweed. He then talks about using cologne down there and it stinging at first, but that it's okay when the woman later has a mouthful of (the cologne's name).
  • One of the comedians does a bit about not liking it when other guys invite him to watch porn. He says he doesn't mind porn and looks at it by himself, adding that it's a "me time" kind of thing (suggesting masturbation). He then complains about Internet porno and its come-ons for more scandalous product, such as an ad that promotes seeing "a clown f*ck a horse." Several more sexual uses of the "f" word are used in that bit.
  • A woman jokingly yells out to Vince, "Show us your boobs."
  • One comedian does a bit about working in a Subway restaurant being bad since the customers can see everything you do, and thus you can't spit in their food or have your "balls" in the same. • We see miscellaneous cleavage.
  • One comedian jokes about women wearing half-tops, saying the wrong half is hanging out (meaning fat bellies rather than breasts).
  • There's talk of women who wear suggestive t-shirts (with wording such as "Do me," "Porn Star," "Slut" and "Got c*ck?"), yet won't talk to men when approached.
  • One comedian does a comedy bit about complaining to his wife about being tired of always taking out the trash, with her replying she's tired of him always having "a little d*ck."
  • A comedian complains that he "got no p*ssy" with his car.
  • A comedian does a comedy bit about the question of whether a man would suck another man's "d*ck" for a million dollars. He then breaks down that notion with various humorous observations, including that such a person would have to explain their sudden, wealthy lifestyle ("Yeah, I'm sucking c*ck now") and that if someone had that kind of cash for a "blow-job," they could do better than him as he's inexperienced and would be crying the entire time.
  • A woman who sports a lot of cleavage has John autograph the top of her breast.
  • We briefly see some young women wearing provocative t-shirts with sexual messages on them.
