QUICK TAKE:
Comedy: A nervous and over reactive dentist tries to get a former next door neighbor and contract killer to help rescue his kidnapped wife from a paroled mobster who's really after the hitman.
PLOT:
Nicholas "Oz" Oseransky (MATTHEW PERRY) is a mild-mannered, but nervous and bumbling dentist who earlier survived discovering that his new next door neighbor, Jimmy "The Tulip" Tudeski (BRUCE WILLIS), was a former hit man targeted by a crime boss for death. Although the matter is behind them, Oz is fixated on security and has turned his home into a fortress where he hopes to raise a family with Cynthia (NATASHA HENSTRIDGE), who just so happens to be Jimmy's ex-wife.

When crime boss Lazlo Gogolak (KEVIN POLLAK) is released from prison and reunited with his son, Strabo (FRANK COLLISON), Oz's life quickly turns south again. The gangster's goons kidnap Cynthia and nearly kill Oz, sending him fleeing to Mexico where he hopes to get Jimmy's help in freeing his now pregnant wife. Yet, Jimmy has seemingly turned soft and seems distraught that he can't get Oz's former dental receptionist, Jill (AMANDA PEET), pregnant. She isn't happy with that or the fact that she isn't a very good contract killer.

Jimmy doesn't want to help Oz, but when Lazlo and his men arrive with their guns blazing, he, Jill and Oz quickly hit the road. After capturing Strabo, the threesome then sets out to arrange a hostage exchange with Lazlo, all while seemingly having something else up their sleeves at the same time.

    OUR WORD TO PARENTS:
Here's a brief summary of the content found in this comedy that's been rated PG-13. Profanity consists of at least 2 "f" words, while other expletives and colorful phrases are uttered. Sexually related dialogue is present (including related to male sexual dysfunction), as is some heterosexual behavior (a woman in just her panties coming on to a man and then having sex with another off camera - with related sounds) and gay humor about two men waking up in bed together with heavily suggested gay sex (played for laughs). Some women are seen in revealing attire while a man's bare butt is seen.

Violence consists of various people being shot to death (some with bloody results) along with people grabbing, hitting or striking others (all played for laughs). Various characters have bad attitudes, while some smoke and/or drink (the latter being done to the point of intoxication). Some crude humor is present, as is some imitative behavior.

Should you still be concerned about the film's appropriateness for yourself or anyone else in your home, you may want to look more closely at our detailed listings for more specific information regarding the film's content.

  • SEX/NUDITY
  • Some men stare at Jill's clothed butt (that we don't see).
  • Jimmy tells Jill that in an any ongoing sexual relationship, there will be ups and downs in terms of libido. She then complains that it's been a long time since any peak and then says that he may be "shooting blanks" (referring to his sperm count).
  • We see Oz in his boxers.
  • Cynthia wears a short outfit that shows some cleavage.
  • After Cynthia starts to tell Oz that if he looks at his security camera one more time, he then finishes that off with, "I'll be taking cold showers the rest of my life?"

  • Cynthia somewhat comes on to Strabo (but only to try to escape).
  • Strabo refers to Jimmy and Jill having trouble in the bedroom and Jimmy admits to having a few moments of erectile dysfunction.
  • While drunk, Jimmy comments on his erectile dysfunction, stating that God doesn't want him to spread his seed, etc.
  • Knowing about her and Jimmy's bedroom problems, Strabo tells Jill that if she were to have sex with another man, it would make Jimmy jealous. She then asks, "With who?" and he replies, "Me, for example" (but nothing happens between them).
  • Talking about Cynthia, Jimmy drunkenly states that she has a "great rack," was wild and that in one instance they didn't come out of their room for four days.
  • After both are drunk the night before, Oz and Jimmy wake up in bed together the next morning (with the latter snuggling with the former until he realizes who he's in bed with). Oz states that he wants to know what happened and asks, "Why does my ass hurt?" Jimmy states that Oz fell down the stairs (but Oz later discovers -- to his horror -- that there are no stairs anywhere around them). Jimmy then gets out of bed and we see his bare butt as he walks away from the camera. He then jokingly tells Strabo, "Just like C-block, huh Strabo?" We then see part of one butt cheek and then a lower torso and up frontal shot of Jimmy (his crotch is just out of the shot) as he exits and then returns to the motel room fully nude. We then realize that Oz was also nude in bed with him (he has just the bed sheets around him).
  • Jill, who's wearing just a bra and panties, comes on to Oz, who appears flustered, especially when she's running her hands down toward her crotch (out of the camera shot). She then asks if he likes her bra and the camera switches to behind her where we see her bare back after she's removed the bra. She then takes his hand and places it on her breast (still seen from behind her, thus we don't see the actual contact) and asks if he can feel her broken heart. He replies that that's not her heart and she then takes both of his hands and places them on her breasts. She then pulls him into an embrace which is when Jimmy walks in and sees them that way (her just in her panties, Oz fully clothed). After Jimmy throws Oz against a wall (knocking him out), he's turned on by Jill and lifts her up around him and closes the door. We then hear both of their sexual sounds and the apparently have sex.
  • While somewhat out of it, Oz tells Cynthia that he doesn't have to be at work today and then makes some incoherent sounds (presumably suggesting sex or fooling around).
  • Jill complains that a statement comes from a guy (Jimmy) who rarely "gets it up." Cynthia states that he never had that problem with her and Jimmy adds that you have to be in love with someone "to get it up."
  • We hear that both Cynthia and Jill are pregnant.

  • A woman knocks out Jimmy with chloroform, holds a gun on Oz and then gives him the chloroform treatment.
  • Lazlo backhands Jimmy (who's tied up) and then does so again.
  • Jill threatens Jimmy with a gun, shoots a lamp behind him and then appears to shoot him (he falls over in the chair to which he's tied).
