PLOT & PARENTAL REVIEW

VIDEO:
(B-) The picture quality isn't as good as one would hope (but the film wasn't ultra-sharp to begin with) and suffers from a moderate amount of compression-related pixelation and an odd, "stepping" or slightly jerky look to camera movement, etc...
AUDIO:
(B+) The audio track is good, but isn't the type of soundtrack to seriously tax one's audio system.
EXTRAS:
  • Scene selection/Jump to any scene.
  • Running commentary by director Gus Van Sant and screenwriters/actors Matt Damon & Ben Affleck describing the film.
  • 11 deleted scenes with audio commentary (ranging from 0:36 to 3:19 in length).
  • Production featurette (6+ minutes) with clips and comments.
  • Theatrical Trailer
  • TV Commercials (4 for domestic use, 2 with Golden Globe nomination comments, 4 with Oscar nomination comments, 1 with Oscar win comments).
  • Montage from 1998 Academy Awards (0:43)
  • "Miss Misery" Music Video (3+ minutes)
  • Behind the Scenes Footage (3+ minutes)
  • COMMENTS:
While the disc's picture quality isn't up to par with other releases, there's a decent amount of additional footage and audio commentary to make this DVD a must for fans of this movie.
