PLOT & PARENTAL REVIEW

VIDEO:
(A) Although many of its scenes are purposefully dark (as was the case in the theatrical release), the picture is otherwise rather sharp with only tiny and brief instances of compression-related pixelation occurring (that are certainly anything but distracting).
AUDIO:
(A+) While not quite up to par with the overall complete sound package delivered by the best action films available on DVD, the sound here is excellent. From the whimsical and near ever-present musical score, to the spatial and often thunderous sound effects (all of which are delivered in full dynamic range and perfectly complement the film's tone), this disc never fails to impress.
EXTRAS:
  • Scene selection/Jump to any scene (with moving images).
  • Theatrical trailer & teaser.
  • "From the Cutting Room Floor" -- 6 deleted scenes (with the longest nearly 4 minutes long and the shortest around 0:30)
  • Cast & Crew filmographies and biographies (on-screen text).
  • Production Notes -- 9 pages of on-screen text.
  • COMMENTS:
Nothing more than a fun, big-screen version of those old Looney Toons cartoons that many of us grew up on, the film is a darkly humorous treat for kids of nearly any age (although some of the material may be a bit intense, risque or otherwise mature for very young kids -- see our parental review link above).

Our only complaint with the disc is that the supplemental materials could have been better as we would have rather seen segments about the effects and the "stunt" mouse than the six deleted scenes and standard-issue production notes (all text) that aren't much to behold.
