PLOT & PARENTAL REVIEW

VIDEO:
(A-) While the picture is extremely sharp most of the time, it noticeably suffers from compression-related pixelation (particularly in shots of the sky or other, lighter and/or solid colors, and during certain slow camera movement). In addition, many scratches and other "blips" are noticeable during the film, particularly the first several minutes (indicating that a less than pristine print was used for the transfer). While it's not horribly distracting (it's quite common to see in theaters), it's a shame a better print wasn't used, but the overall picture quality is still quite good.
AUDIO:
(A+) A decent and lively soundtrack with good use of sound effects and an effective, action-oriented score.
EXTRAS:
  • Scene selection/Jump to any scene.
  • Theatrical trailer.
  • COMMENTS:
Although the picture quality and transfer could have been much better, and the pixelation artifacts are often too noticeable, the film's old-fashioned and adventurous feel make up for much of that. Overall, it's a decent DVD, but more extras would have made it much better.
